Are shotgun beads necessary?

They come with a front bead for a reason. I could forego the mid bead but it does indeed lend to barrel alignment between eye and target. As someone else already said, when looking down the barrel, the bead should be centered on top of the receiver or the extreme back of the rib. Now what else are they but remnants of the very first crude musket sights? Can I hit a target without a bead? Of course, but I do better with the bead.
Better question here would be:
Who removes the bead from their shotgun barrel? Anyone?

I can’t imagine purposely taking one off unless I was changing it to some sort of high visibility front. Even that I’m not crazy about. The little gold bead that comes on Mossbergs has always been good enough.

I have a 500 ATP that someone replaced the front bead with a green HiViz plastic sight and I actually like it.
