I bought an electric turkey fryer maybe 10 years ago to try out. Not an "oiless" but an electric heating element in a deep fat pot. It was maybe 50 bucks, and no gas tanks to deal with, so what the hell. Let's try it. Even with a properly thawed out bird, the heat recovery time was absolutely awful. Had to take the bird out, stop the timer, allow the oil to reheat, and put the bird back.

Went back to propane.
