I’ve got lowers to build with but what is the process to get them registered as pistol lowers as opposed to rifle lowers? Thanks

Are they stripped lowers marked multi caliber or were they sold to you with a stock attached. If the stock is attached and sold to you that way as a rifle lower, then you can’t make it a pistol. You need to sbr it. I may be wrong on this but i dont think so. Stripped lowers can be made into a rifle or a pistol with no registration required for either unless you sbr it. It’s been a while since i looked over the rules regarding pistols. Might want to do some research just to be on the safe side. As long as theyre marked multi then you’re good.

Short barrel rifle, short barrel shotgun, automatics, suppressors, etc... Are supposed to be registered with ATF. Outside of that, there is no such "registration". Just build the pistol the way you like it within the pigdung restrictions we have to follow, and you're good.

Just make sure your pistol brace of choice comes with an atf approval letter. A pistol can have any length barrel, but a rifle has to have at least a 16" barrel if the stock is designed to be shouldered.

When you buy the lower it should be transferred as “other”.

I can’t recall if constructive intent has ever been a real issue but some advise you not to purchase a pistol length upper until you have a non rifle lower in your possession.
