Here are two of mine. Last pic is for size reference. They’re heavier than a full sized 1911. It’s unlikely you’ll ever see any better. They were both built and purchased for the military. The dark one was returned to the armory and refurbished and refinished and apparently never issued. The lighter one was built by the factory and never issued, as it retains 100% of the original zinc finish and the magazine that came in it has never been used. Out of 200,000 that were built, I’m not sure how many you’ll find in this condition. I’ve only seen 2 this clean. These 2. Which is why I rarely shoot them. I usually only shoot the beater I have.
The dark one went to the armory in 1983 and got the rebuild and blue finish. I’m not sure if it was just cost effective or if they didn’t have the ability to refinish them as original at that point.
I like the high energy round, cooking between 1600 and 1800 fps with some loads. They’re sweet shooting pistols, built with a roller mechanism similar to some H&K rifles. It’s a shame the Czechs didn’t build more of them.

Nice SVT40. I have been wanting one. Should have gotten one when they were cheap.

Thank you. They are definitely great rifles and they do tend to get people's attention at the range/shows.

Get one before they continue to climb in price.
