can finally hunt LA again and have a hog hunting question

Well this is the first time I have been able to hunt Louisiana in many years. Thinking about taking my son Hog hunting in the pearl river area tomorrow but not in the WMA.

My question is as follows;

If I read it right since its archery season I have to use birdshot or something of the sort. What shot would you recommend to hunt hogs with that would be legal? Last thing I want to do is not be legal.

I will be using 12g and my son will be using 20g.

That's not the way I read it. Hogs can be taken year round with no firearms or load restrictions, no matter what season. There are restrictions in WMA's

On private land, you can use whatever. WMA has to be whatever is in season. Primitive, shotgun, .22, etc...
