It's worth echoing because it takes years for citizens to accept the collective truth. Democrats still believe Trump is selling nuclear secrets to the Russians: because of the FBI's political meddling. Banks can be regulated hard for this so everyone get to work.
You ever notice the huge wins, the huge policies that favor freedom and privacy, especially when the "good guys" have all three branches of government under their control?

    Me neither...

That's because it's all smoke and mirrors my friend. It will continue to head in one general direction, the direction of loss of freedoms and privacy, no matter what political party is in charge.

This is nothing new and doesn't seem to be as big a deal as the super-paranoid are making it out to be. They have been categorizing your purchases for years from other stores and no one seems to care. The left and media might use the data to estimate the purchases of guns like they do with the NICs check data, but it would be much less accurate as you can buy a lot more than firearms and ammunition at any decent gun shop. You could easily spend thousands on hunting gear alone. Think high end camo, quality optics, packs, knives, Pelican cases, etc. and visit several stores in the process to get everything you need for a big trip.

In America, they could probably make a more accurate list of who doesn't own firearms rather than try to keep track of that. It can take the ATF over a year to approve a single NFA item and you're paying them money for that "privilege". There's no way someone is looking into that $500 you spent at the LGS and it would require endless resources to investigate every large purchase over a certain threshold as a single high end gun or optic can run several thousand dollars and no telling how many of those are purchased daily around the country. In regards to tracking purchases at numerous stores, they would have fun with that one as most gun guys have to visit several stores in a short period to get ammo for different calibers as we all know about the supply/shortage problems. I don't think law-abiding citizens need to worry.

As long as we are able to buy and sell firearms privately as individuals, there will never be an accurate registry. What you buy today can be sold tomorrow and you are not required to keep records of such, only verify the person meets age/residency requirements.

If big brother really wants to save lives with credit card info, they could save many more by checking on people that purchase from fast food restaurants daily (indicator of future health problems associated with obesity) or bars daily (possibly an alcoholic that is driving drunk).

They have been doing this for Decades. It is nothing new. It is why they hate private transactions of any kind with cash. I got reported to the Dept of Homeland Security for taking 10k out of my checking account. We are not a free country and already are socialist. The only thing that makes us Different from any other European Country is the Second Amendment. Other than that we are pretty much like like Europe. Controlled, regulated, socialist cesspool with plebs living meager lives groveling for government crumbs.

To be clear, we WILL NOT be changing to the new MCC dedicated to firearm and ammunition retailers. This is mainly due to the types of products we predominately sell. And will maintain “ sporting goods” as a charge

Hmm...so if a retailer could fall under multiple categories, they are allowed to choose which one best fits their store?

This is there whole email lol

    Dear ,

I’m sure you’ve heard a lot in the news recently about major credit companies coming together to create a new merchant category code (MCC) for firearm and ammunition retailers. We’ve received a lot of inquiries about what this means, how it could impact customers and how Brownells is classified today and in the future.

Therefore, I wanted to reach out to you – a valued customer and friend – to clarify a few things regarding this issue.

Brownells Classification Now & Going Forward

First and foremost, I want you to know that Brownells has long been classified as a “sporting goods retailer” by credit card companies. After conversation with our banking partners, we have confirmed that we will continue to be classified as a SPORTING GOODS RETAILER.

To be clear, we WILL NOT be changing to the new MCC dedicated to firearm and ammunition retailers. This is mainly due to the types of products we predominately sell.

    Industry Impacts

Throughout Brownells’ 83-year-history in the firearm industry, we’ve proudly taken a stand for our industry, gun owners in general and the 2nd Amendment – irrespective of whether legislation, regulatory actions or other anti-2A measures have impacted us directly.

Put simply, we’re all in the fight for freedom and privacy together. Are we happy that our MCC code isn’t changing? Yes. However, we are deeply concerned with the impact this new classification may have on firearm owners or prospective firearm owners, local gun stores and even our competitors.

therefore, you have my word that we will join in any effort to make our voices heard and to educate all parties involved in this matter.

    Our Position on Your Privacy

We love offering you firearms, firearm accessories, parts, tools, ammunition, reloading products and all of the accoutrements to outfit your next firearm-related adventure. As shooters, hunters, firearm do-it-yourselfers, and gunsmiths ourselves, nothing brings us more pleasure than to see and hear from you about how our products, content and services help you pursue your passions.

However, I can assure you – our NUMBER ONE priority is the safety, security and privacy of your data. Our promise to you is that we will continue to vehemently guard your personal data and order information, always.

    Sincerely,

    Chad Martin

    CEO, Brownells, Inc.

If you are unhappy with the credit card companies about this, try this. I have been unhappy with credit card companies for a while. I have many but all without an annual fee. I never carry a balance, pay it as soon as I use it, so I pay no interest. They just pay me cash back. And I never zero a balance, always pay at $0.01 over balance. No paperless billing, so the credit card companies are spending $0.60 to tell me I have a $0.01 credit every month. I figure between the monthly 60 cents and the cash back I get without paying interest or an annual fee, I have been costing them money for years, and they have just been paying me.
Nice I try to do the same but now I’ll leave the .01
