I'm sorry if this has been covered but a search didn't show anything.

Why can't the schools keep a dozen or so medium to large drones on campus to keep assailants busy when they try to attack? They can be paired to a phone that would allow teachers (or LE) to operate them at no risk to themselves.

Built them with non-folding blades that could be used to attack the neck and face.

Drones could be equipped with all sorts of accessories from mace to flammables that could be ignited by someone firing a weapon. For LE, they could have drones that could easily fire .22 rounds. A few of those to the face/neck would keep the assailants busy.

How long do we wait to do SOMETHING?

What's your solution? Do noting until there are full swat teams in every school?

Leftists may be able to keep guns out of schools but what would be their argument about this?

If nothing else, it would give everyone surveillance of the assailants. Would you also be against LE sending in unarmed robots (that are very expensive) for surveillance? The drones, especially in swarms can actually interfere with assailants.

My solution is to start with doors that close themselves and lock where people can't just get in. Add electronically controlled locks that immediately alert if a door is propped open or did not completely close. Control who has access to these doors via RFID badges similar to any mid-size company.

After that, beef up cameras inside and out where the local LE can immediately have a view into the school and see what's going on if a panic button is pushed. Oh, and put panic buttons across the school and train teachers how to use them (similar to what banks have). Cameras will be much more dependable than a drone that has to make entry and then be navigated throughout the school by a pilot.

Next, add in some of the scanners that major events use nowadays. One of the industry leaders is Evolv (https://www.evolvtechnology.com/). Their products are fast, seamless, and are very accurate. The # of false-positives would be low and students wouldn't be able to just walk in with a concealed handgun or rifle.

After that, put some serious money into getting (a) multiple specifically trained LE at each school with procedures/tactics for rapid-response and (b) teachers carrying who are trained on what to do.

Finally, throw a bunch of cash at stop-the-bleed training AND get trauma kits in EVERY single room. Every adult working at the school should know how to use chest seals, TQs, and how to pack wounds. It should be a requirement to be a teacher at schools.

TLDR: Make the school harder to get into. Make weapons quickly detectable. Make reaction time to events quicker. Add more "teeth" in and around the school. And finally, have every adult working at a school trained on basic trauma care.
