What's your favorite cheapish sleeper or underrated semi handgun? The only "rule" for my list must be the sleeper semi auto handgun must be super reliable. Mabye some foreign handgun? Perhaps an off brand? How bout a model that wasnt a good seller or isnt popular any longer?

My list in no particular order are the Ruger P85/89, Original M&P, Taurus PT92 and Tokarev
HAVE OWNED A SAR 9. WISH I HAD KEPT IT!!

Hear me now and believe me later, the P2000 and P2000SK in LEM are the best carry guns. Don't worry, your mileage will NOT vary.

    For the SK
Get 12 round standard length magazines that are listed for the VP9SK and P30SK
Get Solum Tactical magazine base plates
G Code Eclipse holster for AIWB

    For the P2000
You can use the 15 round magazines that are advertised for the P30SK and VP9SK as a mid length option

    For both
    Upgrade mag release to HK45c
Consider light FPBS to put it into V4 configuration (fantastic 6# trigger)

Currently I would say the Bul Armory 2011 style 9mm guns. Picked up a SA2 tac lite (commander length top end with a "full" size polymer grip, railed aluminum chassis/lower. Paid $1350, which is a steal comparred to a staccato, and much better made than a comparable RIA double stack. Mag pattern is apparently para, but Bul sell mags for around $55 so not too bad.

Love my HK for less than 1,000 as the OP wanted “cheapies.” If budget is higher then I 100% agree there are way more attractive options on the 1911/2011 platform. I might have drooled on my keyboard while browsing the staccato website.

Great choices! Some other underrated and reliable semi-auto handguns to consider could be the CZ 75, Canik TP9, and the Sig Sauer SP2022.

I'm kind of partial to an old FEG Hi Power clone (ex foreign LEO). It ain't pretty, but it has yet to misfeed or jam, and it came from the factory without a mag safety.
