I'm looking for the right bait and spot to fish around the fort pike/ lake ponchatrain area. I've been trying for a while. I can pick up a few flounder and reds but I'm looking for the specs can anyone help?

Are you fishing from a boat or land? I have better luck with deadly dudleys under a cork poping it. We caught a few last week on live shrimp using a drop down setup in that general area.

Yeah, if you're in for a drive you could go down to delacroix... I wouldn't recommend going too far out in a 14ft boat but you can stick around the bayous.

Or the Rigolets is really good fishing and only about 30 minutes from Slidell.

The rigolets is ft pike. +1 on the deadly dudley. Cocahoe minnows too... I've never had much luck with shrimp out there.
Try launching off hwy 11 in slidell near the hwy 11 bridge and fish the marsh.
