Great gun, however need to move it to fund a new M24 build. I need a long action instead of the LTR's short action. No trades.

Hey guys, I'm the seller of the rifle and poor Mike has been doing all my dirty work, lol. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at wmaltimu@hotmail.com The rifle is mint. I have two .308 bolt guns, both of which shoot lights out, but I'm really only shooting my AI these days, so the Remmy is collecting dust. I'm in the process of building a spec'ed out Army M24 and am pretty close to getting her done, but need to move this one to finish. I sent Mike some new close up pics of the rifle and since he's better at the internet than I am hopefully he'll post them up soon. But again if any questions on the LTR just shoot me an email and i'd be happy to answer. Thanks guys!

They are both police models. the 700p that everybody knows and loves is the 26inch heavy barrel, the 700p LTR is the 20 inch, lighter model. Both are police models though. Both are parked instead of blued. Both have HS Precision stocks, however the P 26inch comes with the palm swells while the LTR is slimmer w/o the palm swells and comes in about 1 and 1/2 pound lighter.

    Here's Remmy's site on the LTR http://www.remingtonle.com/rifles/700pltr.htm

Well I thought they were different guns. I had the 700 Police and I remember my friends LTR being very different. Didnt know they considered the LTR a Police also.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that there is a 700 Police LTR and there is a 700 sps tactical version, both of which come in a 20 inch model. One comes w/ a Hogue stock (less expensive) and the other comes in an HS Precision Stock (I think). Are there any differences other than the stock?, I honestly don't know. But the Police LTR with the HS stock is significantly more expensive than the SPS Tactical with the Hogue stock.

Yes BigSampson that is right. The LTR i've got comes with the HS precision stock. The HS has an aluminum bedding block while the Hogue on the SpsT is pillar bedded only(from what i remember). The LTR is parked instead of blued like the SpsT, and has a fluted barrel. Also I believe many of the LTR's come with remmy's 40x trigger which in my opinion is right up there with Timney as far as feel goes. Only ones I liked better were a Jewel and the trigger on my Accuracy International AE.

If i were going to use a barreled action only for a build, the SpsT is the way to go cause a new stock would be on there ASAP. The LTR is GTG right out the box with a nice solid stock and very good trigger. If you like to tinker the spsT is a great choice, if you want just slap a scope on there and go shooting, LTR is a great choice. They both shoot outstanding.
