ATF raided my local gun shop yesterday (Aug. 30). The owner also owned another store in a nearby town that was raided as well. All total, black vehicles showed up at five locations he's associated with.

He's also the police chief (the only police officer) in a neighboring town. No arrests have been made. He's a Top 25 seller on Gunbroker. Below is the news story from our local radio station:

Federal Search Warrants Executed in Adair, Anita, Denison & Manning Wednesday (Updated)

ADAIR, Iowa – Officials with the U-S Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa report that in Wednesday, August 31, 2022, federal search warrants were executed at the following locations in West Central Iowa:
    • 300 block of Audubon Street, Adair
    • 300 block of Truman Road, Anita
    • 1100 block of 4th Avenue South, Denison
    • 2700 block of Highway 59, Denison
    • 3000 block of 370th Street, Manning
The searches at these locations were an official law enforcement action involving agents, investigators, and personnel from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
ATF spokespersons confirmed to KCIM in Carroll that the raids were at the businesses and home of Brad Wendt of Denison. Wendt is the owner of BW Outfitters in Denison and Anita. Federal agents reportedly raided Wendt’s home, his gun stores in Denison and Anita, a rural property in Manning, and a location in downtown Adair, where Wendt also serves as chief of police. Federal officials have not released any further details and indicated the warrants are part of an extensive ongoing investigation.

I have some Iowa ties so I followed up on this thread. Don't know how reputable this poster is, but here it is:

"Owner is a known offender with the DNR for poaching deer, has a long past of shenanigans on the Denison police dept. And always seems to be able to buy out somehow. This apparently involves Class 3 violations, using police chief credentials to do transactions on Class 3 stuff. While being a bid dealer.....not super reputable, folks buy there because of price and selection. My personal opinion is he is a guy who thinks he's above the law and his arrogance is going to sink him. Live 20 miles away and won't set foot in the place. He isn't being targeted by big brother for any reason other than he is dishonest and doing illegal things."
