Here's some examplies of progressive income tax. The following is some of what you would pay on $250,000 (in many cases it is less than but I used 250 as it seems to be the magical number) by year according to the Federal Tax Code:
1913 (when income tax was first passed) 6%
    1916-10%
    1918-72%
    1929-25%
    1938-66%
    1945-94%
    1954-92%
    1964-89%
    1965-76.5%
    1968-70%
    1982-50%
    1987-38.5%
    1988-28%
    1991-31%
    1993-39.6%
    2002-35%
    2003-33%

From the years listed you can go figure who was in the White House and which group had Congress. If you had a $250,000 year small business or 5 year contract say to do something in 1913 you did ok but by 1918 you were screwed. The government shouldn't have that kind of power. By a stroke of a pen Congress can raise taxes back up to the 70 or 90+% on anyone or any corporation making $250,000 or more per year. "To each according to his ability to pay"? HA! Theft by any other name is still theft. Kick all incumbents out of office.

They both ****ing suck, I don't see what the argument really is.

How about the Mighty Morphin DemoPublican! Now with two ratlike paws to put into your pockets. Tax and Spend or Borrow and Spend? Why choose when Corporate America will see to it you can have both!

I plan on making more than 250k one day. I'm not going to vote against something that I shall strive to reach.

It's the even the taxing that bothers me, so much as the [re]distribution.

Thank you. It's not the taxing, it's Obama's mindset of why he's taxing. And it's that mindset that cripples societies
