The 2008 elections are all but behind us, but there is still one crucial run-off election in Louisiana's Fourth Congressional District.
Dr. John Fleming, a Republican, is a Gun Owners of America member who emerged as one of the top two vote getters in November. He is now locked in a tough run-off battle against Democrat Paul Carmouche, to be decided on December 6.
Dr. Fleming will be a welcome change in Washington. He is not a career politician. Dr. Fleming built a successful medical practice in northwest Louisiana after serving as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy. He is now seeking to serve the people of Louisiana and this country as a dedicated defender of the Constitution and the Second Amendment.
Dr. Fleming answered the Gun Owners of America candidate survey 100% in favor of your gun rights.
His opponent refused to respond to the same questionnaire. GOA's experience, borne out over the course of 33 years and tens of thousands of campaigns, is that candidates who refuse to answer surveys regarding the Second Amendment are usually hiding anti-gun views.
What we do know about Dr. Fleming's opponent is troubling. He is supported by the most extreme anti-gun faction of the Congressional leadership in Washington. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and many other anti-gun activists have poured money into his campaign.
This seat has been in pro-gun hands for decades, but the anti-Second Amendment establishment is confident they can win this election.
GOA urges gun owners and sportsmen from across the country to get behind Dr. Fleming with a financial contribution.
