Bought a Custom Sport Mauser 98 with a VZ-24 action. Barrel had a date stamp of 9-22-67. Hence the reason I posted in C&R. Bolt has a vintage Buehler low scope safety. Action has this trigger. Looks like a Timney, but no markings. I know Timney was around then. Could this just be a vintage? Clone? Any info appreciated. Thanks

That is either the $50 Timney sportsman trigger without safety, or a dead ringer for one. They didn’t stamp everything like they do now and that’s before the trademark gold color cassette they use on most of their triggers now.
For less than a hundred you can swap to a Timney featherweight with safety and have about the best trigger I’ve ever felt on a 98, but the trigger shown is very decent and easy to adjust.
Your rifle sounds like a nice custom, probably built by a good gunsmith of a bygone era.

Thanks. I was hopeful that was the case. I'm happy with the setup as is.

    Kennah!
I’ll concur. If it’s not a Timney it’s a good clone. I’d bank on Timney. Keep it and enjoy is my opinion.
