My FIL acquired an old 870 Wingmaster. Has what looks to be a 20" barrel with rifle sights. 2-3\4 chamber. I see no rifling in barrel, but also no markings on barrel to indicate what the choke may be? Serial number of V532408V. Tried google and Remington's site to no avail. Anyone?

Thought that too, but wouldn't a slug barrel have some rifling that could be seen? Also thought maybe it was sold as a turkey gun, but the 2-3\4 chamber is puzzling IF that is what it is.

It can absolutely be a slug barrel. Most shotgun slug barrels come in 2 styles. Smoothbore which is used for shooting lead rifled slugs known as Foster style rifled slugs or rifled barrels that are for shooting sabot slugs. Smoothbore slug barrels will generally only be found with rifle sights and a more open choke. However, Foster style rifled slugs are undersized and can be fired through standard choked barrels. Rifled barrels will be for sabot slugs and can be found with either rifle sights, or cantilever barrels for scope mounting. While the slug styles can be used in either type barrel, usually accuracy will suffer. However you will always find someone who switched them up and had good results. Hope this info is of some use to you.

Great info. Was curious about shotgun barrels with sights--rifled or not. It's true; you learn something every day.
