I cast a variety of .58 caliber Minie, Pritchett, and Burton style bullets for Civil War era rifles and rifle muskets, and .36 and .44 caliber round and conical bullets for Civil War era black powder revolvers. Thinking about casting and reloading .357 and .38 for our Marlin 1894Cs.

I'm pretty heavy into bullet casting. I have molds for 22, 7MM, 30, 32, 35, 40, 452, 458, and 50 with multiple molds in some calibers. I have used cast bullets in some of my hunting rifles with excellent success, (358 Win and 45-70). I've been casting off and on for 40+ years and when I had my blood tested a couple of years ago my lead levels were very low. You will not absorb any lead from standing over a pot of molden lead. To vaporize lead you have to heat it far beyond the levels needed to cast bullets. Indoor shooting and the dust created from oxidized lead is far more of a concern.

I cast .44, .50 & .54 round balls for my muzzle loading revolver and rifles. Am set up to cast .36 round balls too, but have enough factory balls to last awhile. Also cast .45's for "Long" Colt and .38's for .38 Special and .357 magnum. I've cast .264" for my 6.5mm Swedish Mauser. Want to get set up to cast for my .303 Enfield and my newly acquired .30-30 Marlin. Best buddy & I have poured, as opposed to cast, lead shot for shotshell reloading.

That is true you can pick up more bad material from primer residue. That's why you should not tumble your brass indoor and be careful handling tumbling media. The dust is the bad stuff. I've been told to put drier sheets (old ones) in the media to collets the dust and it will. Then this becomes the bad stuff, becareful how you handle it.

I've been collecting parts to start. I need to build a setup for smelting. Got a pot, got some lead.... need to make some ingots and buy a few more molds.

I just do a little bit of casting right now. When the weather cools off I'll feel a little more motivated. 375 and 7mm are the projects I'm working on now. The 375 is from Accurate Molds and it's a thing of beauty.

I cast mostly for 30 cal, 44mag, 41 mag, 45-70, 38-55 and have moulds and cast occasionally for 41 long colt, and 8mm, 270, and 7mm. Some also recently gave me about 200lbs of lyno still in bars.
