I just left Jim's where I started the process of getting a suppressor. Got the AAC Element 2 .22 suppressor.

Any tips from the guys that already went through this to help me pass the 8-10 months before I can go pick up my suppressor?

Just forget about it. Time goes faster that way. And after about 6 months you can check on status from ATF (1-304-616-4500) just need serial number.

To make the time go by faster buy another one in three months. Then another in three more months.. Seriously.

I have not heard any reports of buying suppressors from Jims. They are pretty new to selling them. How was it? Did they have all the paperwork there? Are you doing a sheriff sign off? Was the suppressor in stock? Did you get to see it? What was the price?

Go buy another one next month and get the paperwork on that one off.........then another one in December.....then another...

    Don't even tempt me!

All I did today was pay for the suppressor. They said their guy would call this week for me to go by and fill out the paperwork. I went by yesterday and talked to one of the guys to figure out which one I wanted. He was very knowledgeable when it came to suppressors. As he owns one for his AR and said he was looking to get one for a rimfire as well. Yes the suppressor was in stock and I got to hold it and take it apart. I went with the AAC Element 2 and it was $550. That is MSRP according to ACC's website, but I didn't find many places that sold suppressors much under MSRP.

I like the 3 month plan; it would make it easier.
I have reservations about Jim's; nice shop, but....
I have done business with Landry's Guns and Baker Shooter Supply; good guys to deal with doing the NFA.
