La dwf youth lottery hunts

Anyone have any experience with the la dwf wildlife management area youth deer lottery hunts?

I have been on a duck lottery hunt at white lake and they literally take you there and assigned a guide. I doubt they do that for deer but curious if anyone has experienced this for deer. Do you have a stand? Or are you on your own? Not really looking to “explore” for a one day hunt with my 11 year old son if you know what I mean.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

They don't provide a guide for the youth deer hunts or stands. It's a do-it-yourselfer.

Since it is on a WMA, you can always hike, scout or bowhunt the area prior to the youth hunt and get a feel for the area. The pre-season is a good opportunity to get kids outdoors and help them hone their woodsmanship skills so they can grow up to be real hunters and not depend on fences and feeders like so many today. On some of the youth lotto hunts there are stands for the hunters. Yancey has stands and lotto hunts in the restricted area. My kids have been drawn twice and were both successful. The general youth hunt is on your own
