    I don't know how much your wife trains and what her fundamentals looks like, but in general lasers can promote had shooting habits, and red dots forces you to have good fundamental.

    Visible lasers are niche devices either for zeroing a slaved IR laser, target designation, or if you have a clear ballistic shield I guess. They aren't good aiming devices.

    Red dot are faster and more precise than irons but she need to have good fundamentals and are willing to train a little more for the dot.

    On a side note I've never had my dot snag on anything IWB or OWB. I did however had my strong hand thumb snag on my shirt a few times. But instead of chopping my thumb off, I simply adjusted my draws and lifted my shirt higher.
