Looking for a place to camp

Sometimes we group camp w/ friends at tickfaw. One has a 28' travel trailer (if you call that camping!). To keep us together we all get RV sites. I'll set up the tent on the boards meant for the patio. Just make sure you bring a sleeping pad.
I prefer to primitive camp / backpack near Black Creek. I watched someone land a giant (40lb+) catfish at Moody's Landing once years ago. Good place for swimming too. The trail was nice, but I don't think most of it has reopened yet since Katrina. I've been tempted to cross the creek and camp off trail anyway. I bet there's tons of wildlife in there since there's been no foot traffic since 2005.

Bogue Chitto State Park opens in Nov it's about 6 miles south of Franklinton on HWY 25

Fountainbleu State park was pretty nice when I went with my son's MY unit about a month and half ago. Of course the weekend we were there, we had a few a few campers that didn't appreciate them getting up at 5AM for PT.

Don't go north of Baton Rouge if you don't like rattlesankes in your sleeping bag with you!!

chicot used to be a good fishing place, but I went their last year, and its not good fishing any more, thanks to La. Wildlife and Fisheries ,they poisioned the water lillies ,and killed off all the fish, maybe in a few years the fish will come back, like they were in the 70s.It was great back then.

I'm partial to Paul B Johnson, just south of Hattiesburg. Been going there since I was <12. Just across the highway from Camp Shelby. Big lake that used to have some big-ass bass in it.
