I am about to start a job at the Baton Rouge airport. I currently live in Covington and of course don't want to battle that wonderful traffic every day. I am looking for a 1 bedroom that is quiet, safe, and within about a 25 minute drive. Looking to spend around $550-650.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

I used to live here: http://www.1stlake.com/laketowers-baton-rouge-apartments.php

I think we were paying around $900 for a three bedroom apartment. It's a little dated and there is no balcony, but you can get a view of the lake and governors mansion which was nice. Plus you were in Spanish town and could easily walk down to 3rd Street and the levee. I never walked unarmed, but it would be an easy cab ride if you wanted to get your drink on. It wasn't perfect, but it's be a real short drive to work and back.

    Overall, I liked living there.

Lake towers has been on my list to check out. Thank you all for your advice. It looks like I will have to either get an agent to help or drive around alot to check the places out. Too bad the Internet apartment websites don't have a ghetto filter or something of the like. A gated complex seems to be the way I am headed.
