I bought one of these bulbs from academy a long time ago. The batteries last almost forever with this bulb. When the kids want to use a flashlight, thats the one they get.

with the led, the power of the 6 cell is unnecessary. a much smaller light wil produce a remarkable amount of light and have a great run time. personally i have just recently converted some of my old streamlight stingers to led and and they are bright and run for well over 12 hours on a charge. the 6 cell light may still serve a purpose as a club, but will be considered a dangerous weapon if used that way...

LMAO! Considered a dangerous weapon by who? So can a brick. In defense of my life, the last thing I consider is whether or not the object I use is considered a dangerous weapon by anyone who’s not on scene. As long as I can prove how dangerous it is in the moment, I’m satisfied.

I would hope ANY weapon used in self-defense (as a weapon) is dangerous, otherwise, it probably doesn't work that well.

Converting old things to new things is fun, I get it, but you simply will not get modern light performance out of old items that you put new bulbs in. There are too many factors that combine together to make a bright light with high lumens and high candela.

If you want a club, get an expandable baton or ASP.
If you want a bright flashlight, get a bright flashlight.

You and I are starting to agree on things more and more often now, what's up with that? I like it. We should keep doing this.

I was rooting around in the closet and found a mint condition 6D Maglite that I forgot I had . It's the old style bulb so it's more of a club than a useful light . Is there a conversion that can be done ( reasonably )to make it more efficient or should I just unload it ?

My parents have a 4 D cell model that needs a conversion kit.

there are 3 watt LED bulbs by maglight if you wanna keep that Billy club. They’re definitely brighter than the incandescent bulbs of the day and it’s just a bulb change, super easy. I also have one of those (6D cell Maglights) still in the package and just couldn’t get rid of it.
They’re about 8 bucks on Amazon

That's exactly what I did with mine last year.
