Turn out good. The only problem is I think some sand particles flew into the sheath during sanding because the blade has scuff marks on it. I don't think the kydex could do that to steel.

pretty cool. are there do it yourself kydex kits out there or something???

I just bought a sheet and the heat resistant foam from knife kits. http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/index.php

Use a jigsaw to cut out how much you need. Heat it in a toaster oven at around 275 until the kydex becomes floppy like leather. Wrap it around the knife and put it in a press between the foam. My "press" is actually two pieces of foam (cut one bigger piece in half) sandwiched between two pieces of wood which I sit on. Wait a few minutes for the kydex to re-harden, and pull it out of the press. knife kits also sells the eyelets and eyelet setters. I got the cheapest type, which seems to work pretty well. I use a belt sander to shape the sheath. It also has the benefit of melting the edges together which gives a nice uniform look.

I've noticed my blade getting scratched in the sheath, but I didn't think kydex was hard enough to scratch the steel. Well, I've looked online, and it's common for a tight kydex sheath to scratch the blade. The solution is to wrap masking tape around it before molding. Hopefully I can salvage the one I have made already.
