    Hi all,
I have a west German p220 that I researched the import mark on the barrel to be imported in 1992. I have made multiple modifications to it over the years that I have owned it, but upon my most recent modification I cannot get proper function out of it. I’m sure someone who understands better than I what is going on inside the gun can help me diagnose the problem, assuming it’s not the obvious: that the part does not fit. Also, I’m having trouble locating YouTube videos of people working on my exact model. At best it might be on a newer p220, but often it’s even a 226 or 229 (of which I have a 226, and though they have many similarities they also have a couple things that are different.) Anyway, I finally found a trigger that would fit the narrower design of those early years, but it was black and I wanted “silver”. I sanded down the black nitride coating, nickel electroplated it, and sanded it down smooth and shiny with 1000 grit. It was steel, and I was concerned about rust. I also at the same time installed a skeletonized nickel hammer, which has noticeable changes to the factory one I took out. However, I did see a guy in a video swap his hammer in a 229, and it appeared to be same hammer as my stock, and his new was the same as one I installed. I reassembled and when assembled the double action trigger does not work (slight spring pressure on it but virtually no weight), but the single action trigger will drop the hammer if pulled. Also, if I pull the hammer back the SLIGHTEST bit, I’m talking 1/1000th of an inch, I can hear/feel something (I’m showing my ignorance here) “reset” and THEN the double action trigger works fine, pulling the hammer all the way back and dropping it. Also, if I cock the hammer by thumb and then use the decocking lever, it decocks as it should, and then the double action trigger works as well. However, once I pull the trigger on an open chamber, release trigger for it to reset, then again double action doesn’t work unless I tweak the hammer. Please help, kind of a specialist needed. The only person I knew offhand who had any experience with a local gunsmith did not have good things to say, so I am at a loss to get this resolved. It’s not my everyday carry, so it’s not a huge rush, but anybody that can offer any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and if anyone has any questions please ask.
