Here's my favorite build I put together quite a few years ago.
It's an Imbel matching numbers kit with a Coonan reciever. FSE trigger group and folding charging handle. I had Moses cut the barrel down and crown it to 16.5". I covered the metal with GunKote and the stock, forearm and grip with Aluma-Hyde II. It shoots flawlessly. It was my first build and will always be my favorite (I have sold off all the rest). I would love to continue building FAL's, but the days of the $125 Imbel and $200 STG kits are long gone and putting my kids through college is higher on my list.

Good eye. I used a good file and matched it to the upper. I'm not a purist and I liked the looks better

I have a buddy is making (CNC) the rear block to attach to the lower, he also does the short gas systems as well! Prolly would have to get the plastic HG"s from DSA or use the shortened HG's as he also does them OR use some AUSSIE's and have them cut down as my 5" set!

Benji, would you measure your HG's from retainer ring to the HG screw where it goes thru the gas block? Just courious how far back they moved the gas block.....

    Thanks!

ROCKMUP, very easy to add the para folder right onto the back of that setup for the SBR, one screw and ya done, it uses the exact same recoil system as a para!

The 3" short gas system would be perfect! I am pretty sure the one on CP's pistol is a 5" short gas setup.....

todd, I've been looking at them from DSA since they announced building them some time back, but they were $$$ and there was a waiting list. I recently got an e-mail from a place that had them in stock, for a little over $200 less. First link is the pistol on DSA's site, and the second where mine came from.
