Opinion on front strap detailing

    Found several different styles of detailing. Was wondering what yalls preference is as far as feel, performance, etc if there is any other then look.

    Classic checkering is very nice looking if done correctly. 20-30 lpi (Lines Per Inch) is the norm. 20lpi will be a rougher feel to it than 30lpi and the 20 will normally give you a more positive grip on the firearm.

    The golfballing technique also gives a great grip on the firearm and also looks fantastic.

    Stippling is ugly, but it works. Probably the grippyest (If that's a word...) front strap out there for a working mans 1911.

    I have never held a 1911 with either the vertical grooves or the square milling on it. I could comment but that would just be silly.

    Personally, I carry a 1911 with a smooth front strap. I have never felt like the firearm was going to slip out of my hand due to the smooth front strap. Therefore, I would pick the one that looked the best IMO (If you just had to have it)...

    For me, it would be the golfballing technique. (3rd picture down..)
