This is the upper for the build, with BCM mod 3 comp

Kinda wanting to try something different on this new build. I've had an Eotech and currently run an Aimpoint T1 on my AR. I was thinking about maybe a 3x or 5x prism or possibly a small scope, but I have very little experience or knowledge with optics outside of red dots. If I end up going the red dot route, I'll probably try the MRO. Just throwing around ideas, it'll be a while before this build is complete.

Anyone have any experience with primary arms optics? Was looking at their 3x microprisms and the vortex spitfire.

Can’t go wrong with that upper I have 2 of them, on one of my have a trijicon TR 24 1-4 and the other a Aimpoint t1

I’m not very good at getting it to focus but this is a triangle radical, do illuminated fiber optic or tritium at night, fiber-optic is in the shade so it’s not as bright as it could but in the backyard that feeder is 80 yards difference between one power and four power, 1x is pretty close to a no magnification as you can get

On another note I also picked up a vortex PST viper 1-6, put it in my 9” .300 bo sbr for hunting…. If it wasn’t such a good combo for that I would move it to another 14.5” recce rifle

    Beautiful rifle.

This will be my 2nd as well, although the first one was not hammer forged. Put that one together over 10 years ago and it has stayed in it's original configuration.
Honestly, I had 0 intentions on another AR, I have no room in my safe for it, but I couldn't pass up that free BCG deal.

Here's my original, since we all like sharing good eye candy.

I have one of the gen 2 Vortex Micro prisms (3x). I would recommended if you have astigmatism, want some magnification, and still want to keep it lightweight.

Pros - tough, very nice fixed glass, and lightweight. This was the only holding me back from prisms for years because there were always so heavy.

Cons - it is magnified glass so it will have eye relief unlike a red dot. With proper position I have no problems using even with both eyes open. Just remember, it will have to be placed near the rear of your pic rail. This makes running traditional BUIS difficult. I don't worry about it because even if the illumination fails, the reticle is still there. You can also use offsets in front of it.

Tapatalk not letting me quote for some reason. Anyway...

This is one thing I should have mentioned, I would like to save as much added weight as possible, which is why the PA 3x caught my eye, but am not strongly opposed to something like Bigchillin has.

What model Vortex do you have?

I just went through this with my 13.9 build. I’m just not use to the lpvo for a rifle that’s my go to yet. And also for weight purposes..so I just threw an aimpoint pro I had on it.

    I do have a 1-8 on my 14.5” .308 though.

I’m hoping to shave more weight… so when bigchillin sells me that Aimpoint duty I’ll toss it on here and in time… maybe get it a QD mini magnifier. Maybe.

I like a good prism scope. I have a few on my optics shelf. Even the Firebolt on one of my AR10’s has been super. I have an older Sig I like too. Unlike a red dot, there’s the eye relief thing to consider. 3x seems to be my catch all for the AR’s but I’ve got a Burris in 5x I’m itching to mount on something. I guess another “con” is fixed power. But batteries be damned, the ret is etched so off or on, it’s visible full time. Meh, I’m just biased. Don’t listen to me. Bought another swamp Fox last month…

You are right. I paid $265 each for the 2 picked up. No way I would have paid msrp. They perform ok for what I wanted to put them on.

Halfway decided on a 1-6 LPVO

Eyeballing the Eotech vudu sr1 and the vortex razor gen 2 E.

Also looking at the delta Stryker HD, and some of the Leupolds.

Anyone own any of these or have anything good or bad to say about them?

Anyone know where the best place to view a good selection of optics in the Hammond - BR area?

Bowies has a few along with Jim’s.
Cabelas has some. (Saw the Burris rt6 there I believe)

Last time I was at interstate guns they had a nice lineup of optics but only a few LPVO’s. I did see some sigs on the bottom for sure.
Not sure about brothers la arms.
