Are there any long term reliability or durability issues associated with home built flats for AK builds?

I have a spike bayonet that looks like it's for an SKS but it's shorter. What does it go to?

As long as the material specs are equal to, or greater than 4140, and is the correct thickness, you will have any issues with the materials failing. Most of the Chinese manufactured ak's aren't even hardened.

It may have come from a 16" bbl sks.
Some early Norinco Ak's also used a folding spike bayonet
