Question about open carry

This one shouldn't be too controversial . A co worker of mine has a CCW permit and has told me on several occasions that he is not allowed to open carry under any circumstances . He can ONLY carry concealed . I went to the LSP website and read everything I could find and nothing supports his claim . Any comments on this ?

I was told that by the Jeff Parish officer/instructor when I took my CCW also...

While it may not be true I wonder how many other officers believe that also.

The LSP website has the actual law written out in it's entirety and nowhere does it say that open carry is prohibited . How does this crap get started ?

Probably whoever gave the first CCW class for instructors said it and its spread from there. I've had my ccw for a while- I'm coming up on my second renewal...

I'm coming up on my first year. Had to put my hand on my weapon once to deter someone from entering my office late one night. Was spotted carrying by 8 year old kids once at PF Changs. Only incidents to speak of.

I was told by a cop that arrested my neighbor (long story) that the reason this story gets propagated is that though it's not "illegal" to open carry in LA, carrying openly is considered disturbing the peace, and will get you cited on this charge in most municipalities. I suspect that outside cities you're just fine.
