Does anyone have a recommendation for a really quiet airgun.. like to keep less than $650. I live in town and don't want to disturb the neighbors or call attention to myself.. I have a really small yard and live in a neighborhood. Need it to be accurate as I intend to shoot targets. Thanks.

Read some reviews for the Benjamin Marauder, it's the quietest pellet gun I've ever owned. I picked one up new on Ebay for $500 a few years back, but I'm not sure what they're going for now. Keep in mind you'll also need a pump as it's a PCP. It's money well spent, as this thing is a tackdriver with a decent scope.

A carbon fiber tank made specifically for the purpose will hold more air than the scuba tank. You can get them refilled at a paintball store. Not sure if there are any near you. PCP is definitely the way to go for quiet shooting, with max accuracy. Pyramyd Air sells the PCP. Look at their site for ideas, and reviews of the equipment.

Spring piston guns are the loudest in my experience, followed by the newer nitrogen filled piston. The quietest are tank fed guns but depending on the caliber and charge can get pretty loud too. Suppressed .22 bolt action rimfire rifle is quieter than any pellet rifle I’ve shot. “Ding”

Did you review the following? The way it is worded, to me reads as compressed air or CO2 may be exempt.(??)

Just reenforces the need for a quiet implement.

I'm in Livingston Parish, no Ordinances against air guns (although Denham Springs is similar to Slidell's ruling)

Have successfully without incident shot my Suppressed Crosman 2240 in the backyard. Hope things work out for you.

    SLIDELL, LOUISIANA

ARTICLE VII. OFFENSES AGAINST THE PUBLIC AND PUBLIC OFFICERS Slidell, Louisiana Code of Ordinances
Sec. 11-183. Air guns and potato guns.
The use, firing, shooting and explosion of air guns, air rifles, potato guns, blow guns or any other similar device whereby material is exploded from a gun or barrel through the force of an explosion caused by the igniting of inflammable material within the corporate limits of this municipality is hereby declared to be a nuisance, and is unlawful.

Even blowguns… dang. I’m sure that must also cover paint ball and airsoft guns, Nerf guns?... Wonder what’s next? Spitball guns? Pop tart guns? Mothafriggin ridonkulous.
I could do more damage with my wrist rocket sling shots than with a blowgun… oh snap! Forget I said anything about slingshots!

If u care to get with me some time, u can try mine Benjamin Marauder I have scuba tank to fill. About $1500 once u get pump tank gun scope and all. Cheaper to get .22 with quite ammo.
I am also have a can for my 22.
I once was wrote up for illegal discharge of firearm. ( St. Charles parish) shooting pellet gun.
Anyway u r welcome to try both. My 22 rifle is 10/22.(all I got in LR with third)

The most accurate air rifle I own is an Beeman R7. It's amazing.
It's also the quietest and is a REAL pleasure to shoot.
A true backyard rifle, IMHO, and it fits your budget.
It has a slightly smaller stock and weighs less that an R1 or an R9, so smaller people will enjoy it too.
    Adjustable trigger and sights.

my Beeman R7 must be at least 25 years old. Still works fine. And I agree with you that it’s a pleasure to shoot and to COCK. The more powerful air guns are a lot harder to cock. It just gets old man handling an air rifle to cock it . Sure, it doesn’t matter much for one or two shots. But by the 15th shot, it’s beginning to feel like a work out.
