I took a step back and looked at these objectively. There is a lot of ingenuity, and I think the reason people tend to "look down on" "redneck" things is because they view them as "budget" or "corner-cutting" in manner. In turn, the "redneck" tries to pedal their inventions as being "just as good as" something done more thoroughly and on a bigger budget. This only serves to exacerbate the schism.

However, then I just appreciated the link and LOL'ed! I was slightly embarrassed to find that this: http://www.lilligren.com/Redneck/redneck_houseboat_3.htm Looked like a normal economical boat to me. I am not seeing the "redneck" in it and am worried for myself : /

Yeah, I'm still not seeing "redneck" when I look at the boat. It looks more "Build not bought" to me. Not "Hey, Bubba, you think them there things might be a good idear to nail togather like so?"

About 13 yrs ago my wife transplanted me from my hometown in the woods to Ville Platte smack dab in the middle of a bunch of rice and been fields. I've been accussed many times of being redneck. All my neighbors think I'm not quit right. But when they need something fixed, they sure don't hesitate to come over the get help. LOL
