"The families’ suit, filed in 2015, accused Remington of violating a Connecticut law against deceptive trade practices by intentionally marketing its weapons to young, unstable males." IMO the promotion of Godlessness, fatherlessness, and full bore immorality will continue to nuture generations of young, unstable males. The marketing deception exemplified by the firearms industry, although genuinely irresponsible, has been mere child's play when compared to the relentless violence in every unimaginable form delivered in rapid-fire high definition by the film industry, the gaming industry, the electronics industry, the music industry, the professional sports industry. Yes Sir, this country's long gone -the superbowl marketing takes 1st place, choosing to be represented by a rapper that's been arrested for rape, guns, drugs and murder. For some reason, his solid reputation for repeated violence is completely obscured. For some reason.

On the face of it, it looks bad, but the settlement was negotiated by attorneys of a bankrupt company tasked with ending outstanding fiscal liabilities, not dragging out the defense of a company no longer in existence. The settlement came with no admission of guilt, the bean counters just wanted the lawsuit to go away.

And I agree, the personal injury lawsuit explosion is destroying any remaining respect for the American legal system.

Is it the gas can, match, pump maker, refinery, rig, delivery driver, Exxon etc, or heaven forbid the actual scumbag that kit the fires fault? Attorneys will sue all of them till someone pays. The evil men do is no longer an acceptable reason. Crazy times

I highly doubt money will actually change hands. Remington didn't settle, the insurance companies did.

It was also the 4 insurance companies, representing bankrupt Remington, that made the choice to settle this. They will share the cost of this. I bet the lawyers wind up with over half of the money. As stated above it was a move to help end the bankruptcy that has been going on for 6 years.

Can’t wait til someone decides to sue Anheiser Busch, Jack Daniels, GM, and Ford over drunk driving crashes…

Or like Denis Leary said, can we sue Dan Fogleberg for turning 1970s youth into granola-eating, bell-bottom-wearing hippies?

So the family’s attorney said that the AR-15 was selected by the military as their weapon of war. Did anyone let him know the military picked the full auto M-16. I hate lawyers that lie/bend/slant the facts.

As Trailboss stated, Remington didn't settle. The lawyers for the bankrupt Remington settled so that that the bankrutpcy can be completed. No one admitted any guilt. The anti-gun crowd will try to make this out to be a victory, but it was about closing Remington's bankruptcy. Nothing else. Please let your less informed friends know.

Get ready for more lawyers being employed to restrict freedoms. It's the new normal, find a "potential " scab and create a class action.
Here is a good law suit, carbon dioxide can kill in high concentration, breathing creates carbon dioxide. Heavy breathing creates more carbon dioxide. For me sex creates heavy breathing therefore sex contributes to higher concentration of carbon dioxide. Sex is now unlawful if it creates heavy breathing

    Smooth,
The lawsuit was based on Conneticut law that makes misleading or inflammatory advertisements illegal. The Courts had already thrown out the part of the lawsuit that was covered by the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. The families said Bushmaster/Remington advertising to young men about the military design of the XM-15 rifle used in the shooting, is what drove the shooter to do what he did. Most lawyers know that suing the firearms industry is a losing proposition.
