Your math ( and facts ) are a little off . The commercial version of the Springfield Armory that we see today has been around since around 1968 . Just sayin' . You boys may resume your bickering ..

Resume accepted, that’s for your permission…. :mamoru:Which just further makes my point if they been making for the military for 235 years and only 54 years for civilians you would still think they got it together still got staccato beat by 10 years of civilian service … lol

I just bought a Prodigy. Cycled it several times, left slide locked back for a few days then oiled it up and took it to the range. Not one issue.

Got mine for $1250. Worth it at that price point.

The United States Armory and Arsenal at Springfield was founded in 1777 and closed shop in 1968. It has nothing to do with the guns or the companies being discussed in this thread.

Springfield Armory, Inc. was founded in the 1970s, and to my knowledge they've never been a supplier to the US Military. Some of the pistols that they import and sell (like the XD) are actually made by the Croatian company HK Produkt and are used by some overseas militaries and police agencies.

The DS Prodigy doesn't share that pedigree, though. By all appearances it's based on the STI 2011 platform. Closest STI products there would be the Staccato P or C2. There seem to be other companies coming out with 2011 platform-based products, so I expect that this space will continue to grow.

That said, it has nothing to do with the federal armory at Springfield that produced (among others) the M1 Garand.
