Because I am a 1911 nut, and because they are making it.

I remember when Springfield threw their 1911 out there. I took a chance in the early ‘90’s and bought their GI model for a little over $400 and I’ve never been sorry. I could see buying the Savage if the price is right.

Options are always good. Pretty expensive to send a gun off for front strap checkering, so I would pass unless it was a super good price.

    Nice looking gun though.

100 rounds down range, not a single hickup. I will post a bunch of pics for now, and say more about trigger, sights, etc. after the next range trip. But for now, I am still smiling.

Never was crazy about brown/tan G10 stocks on stainless, so I swapped out the VZ's that came on it for some black/ gray ones I had. EDIT to add note that rubber O-Rings did come installed with the VZ stocks, and stainless screws heads are a slotted AND hex bit combo design.

80's series cuts on the extractor for a 70's series gun makes me think they went out side the house on this part too. Maybe another Novak's part?

A few little details you don't normally see on production guns.
    Pre-cut slide stop notch:

I liked the scallop cuts on the flat topped slide and the back strap. The fact that Savage did not apply that same pattern to the front strap puzzles me. There was a small blemish just forward of the rear sight that I was able to clean up easily enough since this is a matte stainless gun. Had it been blue, it would have been an issue for me and Savage to discuss. As it was well within my wheel house to clean up, I did. I may go back to it and touch that area up again at some point, but it does not show up with the naked eye. Today's cell phone cameras are amazing aren't they?
