One of my most fav rifles for small game is my Remington 597 in .22 mag. It shoots great out to 200 yards.

Not the best group but its the only old photo I could find when I was testing it for accuracy. I free floated the barrel and textured and painted the stock. It turned out well and shoots like a dream.

I have a magnum research and it's on par with whbonney's 597. I love it. Believe it or not it's a hog slayer also.

Already ordered a 10 round magazine for it. Looking forward to jump-shooting some Wild Hogs with it!

For what I'd use a .22mag for, I'd only want it in a bolt gun or lever.

    Why a semi-auto?

Hogs are out of control in the Atchafalaya Basin where my 7 yr old son & I hunt. We have walked up on Em at less than 10 yards & it is hard to shoot many of em w/ a bolt when they break. I've even been charged by a boar w/ only a bow in hand; thankfully I was able to make a quick shot at about 10yds!
We have already shot 7 this season alone; now I can shoot more quicker and have more stopping power than my .17HMR Bolt.

I wanted to give you guys an update on the new CZ .22 Mag. after my 1st trip to the range with it. I was very pleased with the accuracy right out of the box & could have left the sights alone, but I tweaked them and well these are the results.
    20 Yards:

    50 Yards:

    100 Yards:

Needless to say, I am VERY PLEASED with the results; especially with Iron-Sights. That's accurate enough to Squirrel Hunt with.

Thanks for all the advise & info.

I plan to do some Small Game Hunting with the new rifle once Deer Season is over & walk the briar/blow-downs to shoot some more hogs. I've killed 10 so far this season! This past week I took 3 big boars out of the Sherburne WMA; pics posted on this link:
