Slidell homeowner shoots, kills man on front lawn

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man on a front lawn in the Ozone Woods subdivision of Slidell.

I'm curious as to why STPSO is investigating and not Slidell PD. I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow when the sheriff gives his press conference.

Could be one of two reasons that I can think of as to why STPSO is investigating.

Either it happened technically outside of Slidell city limits or the homeowner is a Slidell officer.
Then again, could be some other reason too.

I finally got a chance to pull up a map of Slidell city limits. Looks like this happened outside the city in unincorporated St. Tammany parish which explains why STPSO is handling it.

Because Thompson Road is out of city limits, area is handled by STPSO.
