A guy backed into her in a mall parking lot . Mom is old school , refuses to move her car until the Police get there . This time it was the smart thing to do . The guy kept badgering her about moving her car . Kept telling her he was in a hurry and that he was " Metro Police " like that was supposed to mean something to her . Sheriff came out and wrote the accident . Her insurance company said that if he had gotten away she would have been on the hook for the deductible . :eek3:

Good for her- sounds like your Mom is a smart lady who won't be pushed around. Damn shame that people will try to pull that kind of crap. What a jackass.

You screw up, you own up.

Another thing you could do in this situation is take pictures of the scene and the license plates. This 'should' help out if the other person were to leave before a police report is done.

I thought in a parking lot, there could be no tickets? Heard that from a LCPD Officer.

Not unless he was driving recklessly, drinking etc. basic fender bender - no ticket.

They do file a report though.

I wonder though. If she took photos, and he left, even though its not a ticket offense, would he be on the hook for hit and run?

I thought about that too. Don't know how that would work out.

That's awesome. A lot of people wouldn't stand up for themselves.

It's a hit and run and you can be charged.
