    Gents,

Does anyone have experience with procuring property via tax sales / tax liens / sherif sales? I’m looking to get some info and hopefully instructions on how these work, how you find the properties, etc.

Did a google search and I get the jist of the process for Louisiana, but there is sooooo many websites that want you to sign up or pay money for the property searches that it’s overwhelming.

Feel free to reach out PM since this can be a sensitive topic for some

In Plaquemines Parish the sheriff will have a list on their web site of what is going up for auction.

Sheriff's sales are always heavily attended so there's always lots of competition. If the property is mortgaged 99.9 per cent of time the mortgage company will outbid everybody to get the property back. But ya' never know sometimes ya' get lucky.

If you're serious about doing this, first thing to do is become the Sheriff's best friend. I have a buddy do this for a living. He's working in the western La. area, along southern Houston. The sheriff always notify him before it becomes public knowledge. He than comes in and buy all of them. Worst he can do is collect the interest on the property. At best, he claimed these properties pennies on dollar.
