"The department is patrolling hot spots and has approved overtime for targeted details, Estorge said. She wants to ask bar owners to post signs saying no guns allowed and will ask the City Council to consider identifying parts of downtown and Simcoe Street entertainment districts as gun-free zones during active times when people are drinking and walking around outdoors."

Somebody get on the horn to our Senate! This sounds like a good deal.

Suing may not be such a good deal if you are on the receiving end of not being able to adequately protect yourself. It's an after action remedy that you or a loved one might not be around to take advantage of.

It sounds good but I don't know how you can prove that things would have turned out differently had you been armed .
The thing is that you don't have to prove that point. By posting the sign, the property owner is assuming liability for your protection, no matter how competent (or incompetent) you are.
