If you want pistol size I'd just buy a 22 pistol. But I have one of the S&W 15/22's and it is great. Adjustable T6 stock so anyone can shoot it. Already threaded, but had to get an adaptor for can to fit on it. Threw a red dot on top and it was good to go.

The Tippmann 22s are fantastic and reliable. We have them in stock at Gretna Gun Works and can ship to a FFL in your area. Let me know!

I'd buy a Ruger charger pistol.

Have to agree with you on that one.
There is even a charger takedown model but that seems a bit pointless.
The bonus is you can use ubiquitous 10/22 mags and accessories.

That's my opinion as well. The S&W 15-22 isn't necessarily bad, but you're really limited. Having a brace on a faux receiver extension adds to the OAL. The charger pistols are really small.

    M&P 15-22 Pistol OAL = 25.4"
Ruger Charger Pistol OAL = 19.25" (standard model 4923) and 17" (threaded barrel model 4938)

    M&P 15-22 Barrel Length = 8"
Ruger Charger Pistol Barrel Length = 10" (model 4923)
Ruger Charger Pistol Barrel Length = 8" (model 4938)

So even with a 2" longer barrel, the OAL is much shorter. A brace on a .22lr "pistol" is really unnecessary, especially for a Charger or AR-15 style pistol where you can stabilize it easily and mount a generously sized optic. Then, as you pointed out, you have the ability to use all sorts of magazines, rather than be fixed to the 25 round M&P magazines.

Totally unrelated but I’m enjoying the heck out of my CMR 30 for something in a small package. Kind of hard to come by now I guess. It’s lighter than my charger and takes up less space, holds more ammo in a smaller mag and packs a bigger punch. Also has the potential for suppressed shooting but I have to have cycle the 45gr subs.

Gotta agree with going 10/22 based. I have several and prefer them over the needlessly large/heavy AR style rimfires. The Ruger Charger and Bergara BXR Carbon are my two current favorites.
