    Weak firing pins. Careful
Everything I've seen online has talked about how flawless they run. I've managed to get some computer time at work and checked out numerous videos of people running these non stop with no issues. So with this info, I've found one at a Pawn shop that will be coming home with me soon.

So nobody here has one of these?? I've looked at most every review the Umarex Mp5 22 has and all but 1 show it runs smooth as butter and eats every type of round placed in it. The one video is a local guy (TFB I think) with bad ammo and is quite obvious that's the issue. I handled this rifle and my only real gripe in trigger, but it's really not that bad. It's a long and heavier pull than I would like, but not a deal breaker. Found mags at a great price too. Can't wait to run it thru the wringer and she how she does.

Ok so I got the new addition to the family home. As soon as I got it home I decided it needed a good cleaning as it was pretty dirty. Typical tear down and cleaning of my other guns was scrub residue with a wire brush and spray off with a cleaning spray. This time I used a can of brake clean (instead of gun scrubber which I ran out of) which I use alot on my AR's, but there's where I ran into problems. While cleaning out the "chassis" with all the internal parts removed I noticed that the finish started coming off the area around the bolt catch and seemed to start damaging the metal receiver section too which had several scratches on it from the previous owner who obviously didn't take good care of it. I was shocked the finish was damaged by this since almost all my guns are cleaned this way. Now that the finish is ruined I may just Duracoat it, but why did this happen? What type cleaner should I use? Any other suggestions for a new Umarex owner? Thanks

Trust me when I say I like keeping my guns clean. I personally like my guns extremely clean but I’m cautious about using too harsh of chemicals. I’d be very hesitant to use stuff like that on anything except maybe an AR upper that’s really fowled. The vast majority of the time all you need is a nylon brush and mild cleaner/ degreaser. The last thing you want to do is use scraping tools that can remove material or harsh chemicals that damage the finish.

Personally I’d probably look for some type of black paint from Brownells unless you want to pay to have it Cerakoted.

This is the worst area damaged. Probably just going to order a Duracoat paint kit. It was scratched up around the top of the receiver where the mount attaches so maybe "Hans" is going to get a makeover.

Well finally made it to the range last night. I ran 250 rds of various rds thru it with some being 30+ years old and it ate everything! I installed a Monstrum prism scope on top and it worked great. I managed to get some good groups before I called it a night. Very happy with my purchase of this rifle. I'm glad I bought more mags for it too as it only came with 1, now have 4 total (100 rds). The heavy weight of this rifle actually helps keep it on target during rapid fire. Left target slow fire @ 25 yards, right target fast fire (1 second between rounds) @ 25 yds. Loving my dynamic duo!

I have zero experience with this product. Aluma-Hyde, available from Brownells.
Just throwing it out to you if you wanna take a look. There's a video at the bottom.

Note to self: Avoid break cleaner on guns. :)

I've already refinished it with Duracoat. There's a thread here about that experience.

On the Brownells AlumiHyde Its great stuff but expensive because of shipping costs. Basically its an epoxy paint.
I have used Krylon Appliance epoxy and it works pretty good also. Just havent used it long enough to realize its longivity. But I can go to Home Depot and get it for half the price.
