Value of a pre-ban norinco 84s 223 ak?

Got a buddy looking to sell one and I know nothing at all about them. Any ideas what it is worth? Has 2 30 rounders and 1 5 round mag. Probably 99 to 98% condition.

A year ago I got one in above average condition (a few dings on the stock, no rust and functions perfectly) with two 30-round Norinco magazines for $850. Prices are higher now due to election concerns but I would pay no more than $950.

I've heard that pre-ban Norinco's are Super-Duper-extra-special rare and are therefor worth over $3,000. Or NOT.

The only Chinese imports that command $3000+ pricing were the Polytech Legend, a type 56 built on a milled reciever.

The 223 version seems a little harder to find. still haven't decided whether to buy it or not. Mags seem the hard part to find.

I wouldn't pay more than $850 for it. The big problem with those rifles is finding mags. They usually run $60 or better per mag.

If you could pick up another 2 or 3 30 rounders for a decent price, then you would be good. One thing I found out is polytech mags will not work with that rifle only norinco mags. I also read where bulgy 5.56 mags will work, but may need minor modification.
