Hi guys, just wanted to post up on this fantastic FREE range available in Baton Rouge. It has 2-3 fishing ponds, but the main draw are the archery ranges. There is a main range with targets set up in 10 yard increments out to 60 yards and along the left side of the range there are 10-15 3-D targets.

My good friend and I have gone several times and the main reason for our journey are the 2 walking trails. One is set up for longer compound bow shots (there is even an 80-yard mammoth) and the other is set up for recurve shooting. Now, the recurve trail really steals the show...it's so freaking fun. You hike along the trails and let loose arrows at all of the 3-D targets.

If any of you are into archery, it really is a fantastic place to visit.

The place is very nice, you might consider joining us at ARTAC,Amite River Traditional Archery ,the group has the 3-D Traditional range at Waddill,it only cost $35 or $40 a year and you buy a range pass to shoot the course.Tangi archery club has the compound course, and I am sure they would love to have you with them also.

Agreed, have been there quite a few times. Always a kick to go shoot. My first trip out, the WLF officer took me around on his utility vehicle to show me all of the different stuff. Both the field course and the 3-D are fun.

I was out on the small range one day, shooting at the hanging bags and a young guy comes up and starts talking up his shooting ability and such. I kind of ignored him but when he said "Bet you I can shoot that bear in the eye" I was all ears. The standing 3D bear was leaning up against the tree in the center of the range and he commenced to volleying three or four arrows into said tree. Fun times. lol
