    This beauty is in my pond, this picture is about 5ft above the snake and the snake is about 6" under water so the pic quality sucks.
    Also seen a fairly big snapping turtle!

    Big snake for sure, and pretty. Took a shoot at it with a 22 pistol but missed.

    That is a common Northern Water Snake. They are very docile and can be trained to come see you at your fishing spot. If you see one close, take a small fish off the line and drop it on the ground near you and there is a good chance that it will come for an easy meal & eventually it will associate you with feeding time. They are cool & commonly used in haunted houses and oher places where people will come into contact with them. They are not overly aggressive and can often be handled pretty easily. Keep in mind that a hot snake is a fast snake, and haunted houses are in winter, so the common trait of "cold cold-blooded animals move slowly" does apply. Enjoy your buddy, one that size will check most of the moccasins in the area and eat their babies.
