Truth. I heard a wise man (thats kinda questionable, seeing as it was my Dad) say once "that a $20 Wal-mart rod/reel combo will catch just as big a fish as this one, just not nearly as many...."
I have a Barnett Predator 175lb and my son (11) can't pull it back with a cocking rope . You might try a crank that they have for crossbows but there not cheap . Also don't shoot at the same bullseye on your crossbow target its not like a bow , sight it in and you will stack the bolts on top of each other . 1st day I sighted my crossbow in I destroyed 5 bolts .
Buy the BEST you can afford. There's a big difference between a cheap crossbow and a top-of-the-line crossbow. The cheap one costs less, but it won't be as well built, accurate, reliable and will probably fail at the moment you need that great shot.
There's a crossbow for hunting and one just for shooting at targets and such. There's a Horton Scout HD 125 lb. draw and it comes with a 25mm red dot scope, 3-arrow quiver, 3 practice arrows, and 3 points. This one is for hunting.
The other is a Horton Eagle 29 lb. that comes with a peep and peep sight and it is not recommended for hunting.
