    The press is run off of a pto from a tractor. No mules for us, as that would be a full time job just tending to them. Yes, we use
    100 % Louisiana grown sugar cane. We use many different varieties as each one is unique as to sugar content and what color it will impart on the syrup. Some varieties make lighter syrup and some make darker syrup. There is a lot of thinking and figuring that goes into this process.

    I'm sure Allen's syrup is top notch. You can't beat homemade. He can't ship glass or I would have some of this too.

    But if you cannot get your hands on homemade, buy MaBELL'S cane syrup. Steen's will never go through your door again. It's made in MS. My grandfather was a lifelong cane farmer. We used to go to the mill and get the syrup there. MaBELL'S is the closest you get to the old kettle taste.

    Norris Syrup Company in West Monroe, La.
    Been in business for 4 generations in same location.
    I was raised on their cane syrup and when I open a bottle the smell immediately takes me back to my childhood.
