There is an Assistant DA that’s handing out “Get out of Jail Free cards” for Mardi Gras and someone named the Bond Angle.

The surety was Montrell Carmouche that operates the ‘Freedom Fund’ and she touts herself as the bond angel,” says Goyeneche.

Damn embarrassing but not surprised. The DA office needs to be drained and revamped with competent people.

Unbelievable that the record is so clear and there is such total, blatant disregard of officials "sworn" to uphold the law and protect citizens from criminals - without consequences ... or reaction/reaction from their decadent (?)superiors. NOLA is F....D!

I don't give a S..t that the previously oppressed masses feel that "... so what? ... it's OUR TURN NOW!...".

When the trough gets kicked over and there'e no one left to set it back upright and refill it ... the new hogs now running things will starve &/or get slaughtered & get eaten too -- after they run out of US that stick around! BYE!

Do not fear help is on the way:

The New Orleans District Attorney's office and personal injury attorney Morris Bart's office will be working together moving forward.

Bart's office will assist the understaffed District Attorney with screening the high case load at the DA's office.

The District Attorney's office confirmed the partnership.

At best this may help the City, DA & MB with good will publicity.
At Worst you have an ambulance chasing lawyer & a soros funded da working to F things up even more.
    Hoping for the Best but.....

“DA Williams said the cases are being carefully reviewed and some of those 15 cases will face prosecution.”

While sitting at the state capital during gun bills day, a bill came up that would carve out NOLA from the state's preemption law. Among other things in the bill was a ban on self manufactured firearms, AR-15 ban. The list went on.

The chair of the committee did his homework. He went on to roast the representative in a most gratifying way. Stating prosecution rates for the parish in question against other parishes. Something along the line of "Explain to me why little West Carroll parish had more prosecutions during that time frame that Orleans?" Of course, NOLA blamed Covid and other lame excuses. Didn't hold water. When he was done it was time for us to testify. We pretty much looked at each other and said, nope, we're good. Only one on the committee voted for the bill. Even a couple known anti gun committee members voted no.

Bottom line. Catch and release so the bad actors get out and do more crimes. Failure of the DAs office to prosecute.

The New Orleans city Council is about to pass a new law that would criminalize anyone who didn't lock up their firearm and it found its way to a juvenile who used it in a crime.

Shouldn't this law be illegal due to statewide preemption?

    https://wgno.com/news/new-orleans-city-council-to-consider-stricter-gun-ownership-rules/
    RS 40:1796
    §1796. Preemption of state law

    A. No governing authority of a political subdivision shall enact after July 15, 1985, any ordinance or regulation more restrictive than state law concerning in any way the sale, purchase, possession, ownership, transfer, transportation, license, or registration of firearms, ammunition, or components of firearms or ammunition; however, this Section shall not apply to the levy and collection of sales and use taxes, license fees and taxes and permit fees, nor shall it affect the authority of political subdivisions to prohibit the possession of a weapon or firearm in the commercial establishments and public buildings enumerated in R.S. 40:1379.3(N).

If they pass that ordinance, I bet a lawsuit or two will soon be filed. They clearly cannot do that.
