I have a AT3 ARO micro sight I am wanting to use on my TX22 but I think it might be too heavy for the pistol to function properly ( I think it weighs 1.8 ozs) . All these different red dot sights use one of several type mounts so I don't want to buy the correct mount for the ARO then find out it doesn't work good then have to buy another mount and buy a different red dot. Just trying to keep costs down. I was think about the Sig Romeo Zero but since I already have the ARO and was not using it got me wondering. All these different mounts or "footprints" for these sights is so confusing. Anyone have a list of which sight uses which mount? Any info would be appreciated.

    This is what I have.

This is what I may have to use.

I thought I read somewhere that the metal housing micro sights were too heavy for rimfire pistols to cycle properly. I remember something about needing to stay under a few ounces if memory serves. I guess it wouldn't be too much to buy a mount and try it being I've already got the sight. I'm far sighted and need reading glasses to see up close so I am hoping a red dot with help me shoot better.

Perhaps you have a shooting buddy using a RD who would let you try shooting for effect.

And on "stay under a few ounces" seems your ARO at 1.8 should work.

    Good luck on your journey.

I use Red dots on my Rifles with no real issue, but using iron sights is getting more difficult by the day. Thanks I'll try it soon and report back.

I checked the weight of the ARO sight after I took off the bottom mount. It came in @ 1.36 ounces so that's even better. Hope that mount is light too.

If you have the TX22 competition the RDS mount is on the barrel and does not reciprocate with the slide so weight is not an issue. If you are using a rear sight adapter to mount it then I am not sure if weight is an issue or not but some people have used Holosuns with no issue I believe.

I have the standard TX22 so I will have to remove the factory rear sight and install the mounting plate. Will I need a sight adjustment tool to help install the plate? I plan on measuring all components coming off an then going back on so I can see the actual weight difference being added to the slide. I'm also going to run a few more rounds thru it before I modify it to double check functionality of subs and high velocity rounds.

If didn't already have the AT3 ARO red dot sight I was going to go with the Sig Romeo Zero, but I'll only have $21 tied up in this venture. I need to put some more rounds thru my pistol before I modify it, going tonight after work to RangeUSA and try a few different types of ammo. It ran fine with std velocity ammo, so I'm going to try some subs and then some stingers to see how it runs. Then maybe by the weekend I can put the red dot on and sight it in and see how she does.

I went by RangeUSA today on my way home and put "lil Hulk" thru its paces. First mag std velocity ammo 1 second between shots gave me a decent group, second mag first 3 shots game for me a great group. All shooting was done @ 7 yards. Next mag of subsonics gave me 1 stove pipe around #7. Then I ran a mixed mag of all 3 types ammo which she ate without hesitation. Then 2 more std ammo. So now I have about 350 rounds thru her.
Then I see when I got home my adapter mount for my red dot came in. So I immediately took lil Hulk apart to try and fit the red dot on it. I weighed all parts coming off and on it. So total weight added is 1.71 ounces. Took me about 15 minutes to fit the bracket and red dot on it. Did a quick bore sighting. Now ready for another range trip.

Ok so went by the range tonight and ran lil Hulk thru its paces. It didn't take long to zero it. Then ran 1 mag of std velocity ammo. No problem, switched to subs (only 5), stove piped the first then fired the second but failed to strip next round from the mag. Cycled the mag and ran next 3 with no problems. Ran 5 stingers thru and first round got stuck in the chamber. Rest fired normally. 1 more mag of std velocity rapid fire after firing a 3 shot group. I kept checking the red dot to make sure it's secure but after all this shooting it felt slightly loose so I called it a night.
I might have made the pistol a little more picky on ammo but haven't had a failure with std velocity ammo so I'm happy with it. I can't wait to get my wife and kids to try it out. I love this thing, I'm going to need another one now.

Ok small development here. I have only 1 real range trip with the red dot setup and it worked great. I'm trying to make it back to the range this week to confirm how it runs like this. My issue is: I THINK this red dot may be a little heavy for it to cycle all ammo types, but it seems to runs std velocity ammo fine. I've just got another even smaller and lighter red dot I'm really interested in trying out on the pistol. It will require another adapter plate (not a big deal) but I think the weight being substantial it would be wise to try it out. This is just a range toy so not worried about changing stuff up on it.
The new red dot is this one: https://www.cyeleeoptics.com/products/cyelee-cat-pro

It's only .9910 ozs vs 1.36 ozs for the AT3. That's a substantial amount to these things so I'm real curious to try it out. It's .373 ozs difference so why not.

What would you do, leave pistol in current configuration or change it to the new red dot due to the weight savings in hope of making it super reliable??

I’d shoot it some more as is first and see if what you think is a potential issue is even an issue at all.

I'm going to RangeUSA tonight to try it one more time. The first range trip checking it out I kinda felt like reliability was good with std velocity, but maybe it could start to be picky on ammo which I don't want. With the lighter R/D I feel it could be more reliable even possibly with all types of ammo.
