    Here's a close idea of what you could expect. This was the 2011 Predator Tactical Lone Star Challenge. They don't really discuss what the course of fire is for each stage, but you don't really get much in the way of details till you walk up to the stage anyway.

    what were most of those guys shooting? a .223?

    I don't think I've ever seen a .223 at a tactical match. Most are some version of 6mm, 6.5mm, or .308 calibers. A .223 can reach out to 1000yds, but it won't have enough energy to make much of a report on a steel target much less knock down the reactive setups.
