Put some thought into this lately, and I would say you need 1 of each for each member of your family that can properly understand and carry such weapons at the time when needed.

#1. Pistol with standard easy obtainable ammo and mags like 9mm

#2. Rifle with standard easy obtainable ammo and mags like 223 or 556

#3. Shotgun pump or auto with standard shells like 12ga

#4. Long range rifle with easily obtained ammo like 308.

I think revolvers and lever actions are cool, but I wouldn't want to go up against someone with an AR with my lever action. Technology has changed, and advancements have been made. A good example of this is red dot pistols they have really changed the game. Ammo must be the type that's so common you can find it anywhere.

Having guns and not knowing how they function or have proper training (even just a little) doesn't make you technically and tactically proficient. One needs to know the basics and firearm safe at a minimum.

I'm scared of black guns period, Flame throwers on the other hand are pretty cool.
I like keeping gut hooked cotton mouths leading to the front and back door about face high.
Anyone ever hear a full grown man scream when struck in the face by a cotton mouth?
Best alarm system that's combined with old technology and old technology!

I've read that tethered snakes were used in Vietnam, but never met anyone who met one.

Telling you man, We may need this one day to guard our ''goods''
Fireant's in a bucket dumped on an intruders head would be the swizzle & snizzle!

Learned this years ago dumping moon pies off a Mardi gras float followed by a 3 ft. long rubber snake.
Snake never had a chance and generally was torn into 300 pieces with-in 10 seconds.

I remember a movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme called Hard Target where he used a snake trap to get someone. I remember seeing it as a kid and was like "that's messed up"..
